17V686 · Air Bags
Reported to the register 30/10/2017
What is wrong: Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Mirage vehicles. The internal acceleration sensor in the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) can misinterpret vibrations such as those from poor road conditions or a flat tire to be a sensor error thereby disabling the air bags from deploying in a crash.
The risk: Air bags that do not deploy as designed in a crash increase the risk of injury.
The fix: MMNA will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the SRS-ECU software, free of charge. The recall began on November 10, 2017. Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. MMNA's number for this recall is SR-17-006.
What this page can and cannot tell you
These are the campaigns the American register (NHTSA) links to this model and year: the ones that may cover the car. Whether one specific car is included, and whether its repair was already carried out, only the manufacturer or the authority's own VIN lookup can confirm. A recall repair is free at an authorised dealer.
Where we hold the notice, the link goes to our own page, which keeps every version of the wording — including any the manufacturer rewrote after publication. Where we do not, the link goes to the authority.
Confirm this exact car by VIN: here, or at NHTSA, DVSA, Transport Canada.
