We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, understand how it’s used, and serve relevant advertising. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the site works.

Advertising & Google AdSense

We use third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense, to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits here and/or other sites.

Consent to cookies and advertising

Readers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's consent message, a consent management platform certified under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. Until you choose, analytics and advertising cookies are not set and Google's services run in a restricted mode that stores nothing on your device. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with Privacy and cookie settings at the foot of every page. Recall alerts, owner reports and vehicle checks (added 22 September 2026)

Recall alerts. If you sign up at /alerts/, we keep your email address, the car or notice you asked about, and two random codes (one to confirm, one to stop). Nothing is sent until you click the confirmation link. Every email has a one-click stop link; stopping deletes the alert. Emails are sent through Cloudflare Email Service. We never share or sell the addresses and use them for nothing else.

Owner reports. The owner box on notices records only the fixed choices you tick. To count one answer per person per day we keep a one-way hash of the day, your IP address, your browser type and the page, for two days; it cannot be turned back into any of those.

Vehicle checks. A VIN or number plate you enter is sent to the authority's own open data (NHTSA, the RDW or the Israeli Ministry of Transport) to answer your question and is not stored by us.
