Independent site, not a safety authority. - How the record is kept: https://carsmultiverse.com/methodology/ - Corrections: https://carsmultiverse.com/corrections/ - Advertising, data licensing and partnerships: https://carsmultiverse.com/advertise/ > Every version of a recall notice, kept - from 7 national and European registers (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, European Union, Netherlands, Japan, Israel) - so you can see what vehicle safety authorities changed after they announced it. An independent site, not a government authority. A recall notice is not fixed. Authorities edit the wording after publication, and the register shows only the current version. We read whole national registers on a cycle, keep the exact wording with a dated fingerprint, and publish what moved. Published by A.I.T. Multiverse Consulting Ltd, Nicosia, Cyprus. Independent: not affiliated with any safety authority or manufacturer. To act on a recall, use the official notice from NHTSA, Transport Canada, the EU Safety Gate or DVSA; this site shows what that notice used to say. ## What is held 7 national and European registers, 66,784 recall records, 32 countries, each read on this site's own schedule and kept with the wording it had when it was read. - United States (NHTSA): 15,259 campaigns, since 2010. https://carsmultiverse.com/changed/ - Canada (Transport Canada): 17,852 recalls, since 1975. https://carsmultiverse.com/canada/ - United Kingdom (DVSA): 8,965 recalls, since 1992. https://carsmultiverse.com/uk-recalls/ - European Union (Safety Gate): 6,396 alerts, 27 member states. https://carsmultiverse.com/the-european-alerts/ - Netherlands (RDW): 4,166 campaigns, with completion data. https://carsmultiverse.com/recalls-never-completed/ - Japan (MLIT): 10,518 notifications, since 1993. https://carsmultiverse.com/japan/ - Israel (Ministry of Transport): 3,628 recall notices, since 2000. https://carsmultiverse.com/israel/ Every item in those registers has its own page, and the URLs are predictable: - American campaign: /recall// , for example /recall/15V311/ - Canadian recall: /canada/recall-/ , for example /canada/recall-2015209/ - European Safety Gate alert: /the-european-alerts/alert-/ , for example /the-european-alerts/alert-sr-02316-26/ ; and one index page per notifying member state at /the-european-alerts/alerts-from-/ - Dutch campaign, carrying the share of it never completed: /recalls-never-completed/campaign-/ , for example /recalls-never-completed/campaign-mgp250130/ ; and one index page per reporting manufacturer at /recalls-never-completed/campaigns-reported-by-/ - Japanese notification: /japan/recall-/ , for example /japan/recall-1233200/ ; and one index page per year at /japan/recalls-from-/ and one per make at /japan/recalls-on-a-/ Where one defect was filed in more than one register, each of those pages names the others and links to them, because it is one defect recorded separately by each authority that saw it. Within the American register, what this site keeps that the register itself does not: - American campaigns fingerprinted: 15,259 - Campaigns whose wording fingerprint moved after we first read it: 101 - Campaigns re-read word for word, every version kept: 1,485 - Rewrites held with the earlier wording beside the current one: 102 - Campaigns carrying both a report date and an owner-notification date: 14,869 - Campaigns whose vehicle count changed after we first read it: 13 ## Data, machine readable These return JSON and are the useful part of this site. this measures every campaign against that line, and separately compares the date each notice promised its own owners against the notification date in the register - [Which faults actually get fixed](https://carsmultiverse.com/which-faults-get-fixed/) - recall completion rates crossed with the part that failed and with the remedy, vehicle-weighted, plus the count of cars still unrepaired; the regulator publishes the rates in an annual PDF and the component in a database and never joins them - [Who gets told first](https://carsmultiverse.com/who-gets-told-first/) - the same recall in two countries, joined on the manufacturer own campaign code, with the date American owners were notified set against the date Dutch owners were; no regulator publishes the difference because every register is national - [What your register tells you](https://carsmultiverse.com/what-your-register-tells-you/) - four national recall registers (United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Canada) compared not by how many recalls they have but by what each one actually discloses: the hazard, the vehicle count, the owner notification date, the completion rate, and the earlier wording that none of them keeps - [The European alerts](https://carsmultiverse.com/the-european-alerts/) - every motor-vehicle alert in the EU Safety Gate rapid alert system, with the member state that raised each one; twenty-seven countries share the system and two of them raise most of the vehicle alerts. Also at /wp-json/cmveg/v1/alerts as JSON - [Europe and America, the same recall](https://carsmultiverse.com/europe-and-america/) - EU Safety Gate alerts joined to US recall campaigns on the manufacturer own campaign code, with the date American owners were notified set against the date the European alert was published; the two dates are different administrative acts and the page says so before it says anything else - [How many were actually fixed](https://carsmultiverse.com/how-many-were-actually-fixed/) - completion rates, read out of the PDFs they are published in - [What failed, and what happened to the notice](https://carsmultiverse.com/what-failed/) - every recall notice grouped by the part that failed, and for each part: how many notices gave owners no date for the letter, how many of the dates given have passed, and which notices were reworded after publication - [Check our work without trusting us](https://carsmultiverse.com/verify/) - an append-only chain of daily Merkle roots over every wording fingerprint we hold, with per-campaign inclusion proofs and a verifier that runs entirely in the reader browser - [Same fault, different country](https://carsmultiverse.com/same-recall-different-country/) - one defect described by two national registers, side by side ## For a person whose car is recalled - [Check your car](https://carsmultiverse.com/check-your-car/) - [What to do about a recall](https://carsmultiverse.com/what-to-do-about-a-recall/) - [Is this recall letter real](https://carsmultiverse.com/is-this-recall-letter-real/) ## What is unique here - [One recall, filed twice, with the fix rewritten in between](https://carsmultiverse.com/what-changed-on-the-bolt-recall/) - [Recalls that another country published first](https://carsmultiverse.com/recalled-abroad-first/) - [Is this record up to date](https://carsmultiverse.com/status/) - [About this record, and how it is built](https://carsmultiverse.com/about/) - [Proof this record has not been edited, sealed daily](https://carsmultiverse.com/seal/) ## How to cite us correctly We republish public records. We are not the authority and not a substitute for it. When quoting a figure, say when it was read: our figures carry a read date because the underlying register changes. Where we record that a notice was edited, we record only that the text differed between two dated readings. We do not know why any wording or count changed, and we make no claim about it. ## What we do not publish No car reviews, no recommendations, and no rankings other than what the register itself records. Any advertising on a page is served by a third party, is labelled as advertising, and sits outside the record; no sponsored placement, and no payment for coverage, for placement or for emphasis. Where a page carries an affiliate link it is marked as one, and no affiliate arrangement changes which recalls appear, how a notice is described, or what any figure says. Nobody can buy their way into or out of the record. ## Policies - [Editorial policy](https://carsmultiverse.com/editorial-policy/) - [Disclosure](https://carsmultiverse.com/disclosure/) - [Terms of use](https://carsmultiverse.com/terms-of-service/) - [How we work](https://carsmultiverse.com/methodology/) - [Corrections](https://carsmultiverse.com/corrections/)
